Leidos is currently seeking a full-time Data Analyst to support the Deployment Health Research Department at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. This position will support the Recruit Assessment Program (RAP) in their goal of improving Marine Corps members health and readiness and informing policy decisions through examining of early career data and potentially matching to later life military and personal outcomes. The RAP database includes records on over 200,000 Marine recruits for almost 20 years. The Data Analyst will work closely and collaboratively with senior RAP staff to support efforts across the full research project cycle. Primary efforts will focus on analysis and peer-reviewed paper writing specific to the Marine Corps operational interests.
Due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are highly encouraged to work remotely from their home office, although visits twice a week to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will be required.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Access various primary and secondary data sources to extract relevant data and construct comprehensive, project-specific datasets
Contribute to data management processes, including data verification, cleaning, quality assurance, merging, and preparing data requests
Use SAS to clean and analyze data and run statistical models including PROC LOGISTIC, REG, PHREG, FREQ, GLM, PROC SQL and more
Prepare tables and graphs displaying research findings
Maintain and update documentation on all processes and procedures, including data dictionaries and codebooks
Contribute to proposal preparation, IRB submissions, reports, and peer-reviewed journal publications
Support occasional local data collection efforts
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or related field
1-5 years’ work experience in public health, epidemiology, statistics or related field
Experience with research design and statistical methodology for relevant research studies
SAS competency with complex database management and data merging, cleaning and verification processes
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with or exposure to ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnostic coding and administrative medical claims data
Experience with military populations
Experience preparing scientific documents including IRB protocols, funding proposals and/or peer-reviewed manuscripts

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 – $82,000.00 – $110,700.00
